About Kepha
Kepha Ligate’s journey began in a small village on the edge of Udzungwa National Park in southeastern Tanzania. Growing up surrounded by the natural beauty of the park’s wildlife and landscapes, he developed a deep love for his environment and his community. In a place where conservation was often misunderstood, Kepha saw an opportunity to make a difference—not just by protecting the land, but by inspiring people to see the connection between their lives, their culture, and the environment.
Driven by a deep desire to protect the land he called home, Kepha pursued an education in wildlife management. His mission was clear: to show his community the benefits of conservation and inspire others to embrace the responsibility of protecting Tanzania’s rich ecosystems. His dedication paid off, sparking a movement in his village where parents began encouraging their children to follow in his footsteps. Together, they worked on educating others on the vital role conservation plays in their lives and urging the shift away from harmful activities within protected areas.
After working as a safari guide for over 10 years, Kepha realized that many tours offered the same experiences—visiting popular, over-trafficked locations without much depth. He wanted to offer something more personal, something that would allow travelers to not only witness the breathtaking beauty of Tanzania but also connect with its people and culture. This inspired him to create Ligate African Adventures.
